Day 29 - A Song From My Childhood
Don’t Go Breakin My Heart - Elton John/Kiki Dee
I performed a gymnastics routine to this song with my friend, Sunny, for our 5th grade class. It was my FAVORITE song for at least a year. This was the “brush for a microphone sing in the mirror” song for me for the longest time. I couldn’t decide between this song for this entry or ”Jet” by Wings or “Silly Love Songs”. I loved them all.
Day 26 - A Song I Can Play on an Instrument
Primary - The Cure. Brian taught me the bass line once, and I could sort of play it. Best bass line ever. Plus 6 string bass as guitar. Brian’s Cure tribute band, Le Cure plays this one and rocks the house every time. LOVE!
Day 25 - A Song That Makes Me Laugh
Where It’s At - Beck. “Bottles and cans, just clap your hands.” “Two turntables and a microphone.” LOL - He looks like Michael Bolten from Office Space in this video.
Day 22 - A Song I Work Out To
Mr. Sensitive - David Cook. This is my favorite high adrenaline work out song these days. :)
Day 21 - A Song I Listen to While Driving
Heaven or Las Vegas - Cockteau Twins
I really wanted to find a song from The Flaming Lips “Soft Bulletin” but there were too many to choose from. I love to listen to that cd on a road trip to the hill country. But, I do have a great memory of listening to the one I did choose - we listened to this entire dreamy cd on a night time road trip between Waco and Dallas on a very eerie foggy night. An oldie, but a goodie.
Day 19 - A Song From My Favorite Album
Bones - Radiohead (The Bends)
Here’s a live version of Bones… probably my favorite Radiohead song, or top 5 anyway. This video cracks me up because Thom is dressed like a corporate sales person…but acts like an eccentric rockstar. hee! Plus Jonny is weird as always, swingin his Buster Brown haircut while rockin the guitar like no other.
Day 18 - A Song I Wish I Heard on the Radio
Declaration - David Cook. This should have been David’s first single. The End.
Day 17 - A Song I Hear Often on the Radio
Possum Kingdom - Toadies. There are many other predictable songs I could name…Enrique, Katy Perry, etc… but I do hear an inordinate amount of Toadies on the radio, which I’m completely ok with. They are from here (Dallas) and Possum Kindom is right down the road, so I’m particularly fond of this one. Plus Todd (now known as Vadin) gave me a very intimate stare in the eyes on the stairs at Trees one Halloween night when I was dressed up like Uma Thurman from Pulp Fiction. hehe!
Day 15 - A Song That Describes Me
Jesus Freak - DC Talk. OK Maybe not exactly, but I strive to be bolder in my faith like this. I’m really more like their song, “What if I Stumble, What if I Fall” but I do love the lyrics of this song when they say “What will people say if they know that I’m a Jesus Freak, what will people do when they find out it’s true? I don’t really care if they label me a Jesus Freak, there ain’t no denying they truth. No, I ain’t into hiding the truth.” I do love the Lord, and walk with him daily. He’s my light and salvation. Hallelujah for that!
